Doppler Signal of Fetal Respiration in Ultrasound
Category: |
Obstetrics Ultrasound
Explanation: |
The use of color flow mapping and Doppler flow signal can be used to detect the flow of amniotic fluid in and out of the nostrils as an expression of the fetal breathing in utero. The out flow wave-form is directed upwards above the base line and represent expiration and the inflow wave-form id directed downwards below the base line and represent inspiration. It is irregular early in pregnancy and the regularity and rhythm are increasing with progression of pregnancy. |
